🧑🏻💻 About the role First things first: you want to know what you're actually applying for. It's impossible to capture every nuance of a role – especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews – but if we had to distil it down to a job description (which we do because this is a job description), it would be this:
We’re looking for a Design Manager to build the design system for the hospitality industry—a system that sets new standards for excellence, empowers teams across Mews, and supports the creation of products that delight customers and transform the industry.
The position is entirely remote - we believe in the impact people can bring no matter where they are.
✅ Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
Architect the future
- Lead the development of a best-in-class design system, ensuring scalable, accessible, and efficient solutions for a complex eco system.
- Leverage Figma as a superpower to drive adoption, streamline workflows, and empower designers and developers across the organization.
- Champion innovative approaches to design system architecture that go beyond traditional component libraries
Lead by design and by heart
- Coach, mentor, and inspire not just your team, but the broader organization.
- Create a culture of growth and learning that enables everyone to reach their next level.
Bridge design and code
- Dive into technical challenges and ensure seamless collaboration between designers and developers.
- Speak the language of engineers, ensuring your team can confidently navigate complex technical environments without breaking a sweat.
Be a master communicator
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across product, engineering, and leadership teams.
- Tell compelling stories to drive alignment and excitement for the design system’s vision.
- Manage expectations and priorities while advocating for the team and its impact.
Lead with empathy under pressure
- Keep the team focused and inspired, even in high-stakes environments.
- Foster psychological safety and clarity to help the team thrive in Mews’ ambitious journey to becoming a category-of-one product.
- Lead the strategic reimagining of the Mews Design System architecture to balance creative freedom with systematic consistency
