Make Your Mark:At BlackLine, we are dedicated to leveraging data to drive innovation and business success. We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Analyst to join our dynamic team. The Data Governance Analysts will be responsible for managing and protecting an organization's data assets, ensuring the smooth flow of data, and optimizing data practices.
The Data Governance Analyst lays out helpful people, processes, and technology frameworks to manage enterprise data. They will work with data owners and stakeholders to implement and maintain data governance policies and promote data literacy across the organization. Their work is critical to maintaining data integrity, security, and usability, making it a reliable resource for decision-making and strategy development. The role will focus primarily on helping catalog source systems, implementing solutions to manage data lineage, making change management easy, documentation and management of enterprise / departmental metrics, and development of data quality monitoring and alerting solutions.
You'll Get To: Data Stewardship:
- Develop and implement data stewardship policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and quality across the organization.
- Collaborate with business units to understand their data needs and provide guidance on data governance best practices.
Data Dictionary Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain a comprehensive data dictionary that captures metadata, definitions, and relationships for all organizational data assets.
- Outline processes to ensure the data dictionary is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Metrics Catalog Development:
- Create and manage a metrics catalog that outlines key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics definitions, and calculation methodologies.
- Work with stakeholders to define and document KPIs. Precise categorization (Enterprise vs. Departmental) and management of ownership of metric definitions will be critical.
Data Quality Monitoring and Alerting:
- Design and implement data quality monitoring frameworks and alerting solutions to identify and address key data quality issues proactively.
- Develop automated data quality checks and reporting tools to ensure timely detection of anomalies and discrepancies to various data stewards and owners.
- Operationalize processes for timely resolution of these issues.
Data Governance Tools and Technologies:
- Help implement solutions and processes for optimum management of data assets across the organization.
- Utilize data governance tools and technologies to support data stewardship activities and data governance processes.
Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to business users and data stewards on data governance policies, data dictionary usage, and data quality best practices.
- Act as a point of contact for data governance inquiries & issues.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain thorough documentation of data governance processes, company data dictionary entries, metrics definitions, and data quality issues.
- Generate reports and dashboards to communicate data governance metrics and insights to stakeholders.
What You'll Bring: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field focusing on data quality and stewardship.
- Proficiency in data governance and management tools (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, Alation).
- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience with data quality frameworks and data quality management tools.
- Familiarity with data modeling and metadata management concepts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

BlackLine recognizes that the ways we work and the workplace itself has shifted. Salary Range: USD $131,000.00 - USD $174,000.00
Pay Transparency Statement: Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.
