The Role
At SellerX we are looking for a Trade Compliance Manager (x/f/m) (maternity cover) to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for customs and trade compliance matters. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of EU or US customs laws and regulations, classification, customs valuation, transport and operations, and import/export declarations.

Key Responsibilities
Trade Compliance
- Classify products and conduct import screenings for various product categories, including household goods, electronics, food and organic products, and other consumer products.
- Review the HS codes for existing products and help classify goods in other regions for product launches or market expansions.
- Ensure that EU customs risks and issues are appropriately controlled and prioritized in all aspects of duty management and trade compliance.
- Create and maintain import and export declarations for smooth customs clearance and to adhere to relevant recordkeeping laws.
- Respond to trade compliance inquiries from our internal SellerX partners & external stakeholders as Customs, Brokers, Freight Forwarders
Processes & Systems
- Support with the maintenance of trade metrics, internal and external audits, and processes to ensure adherence to customs and import/export requirements within the EU.
- Architect and implement best “Trade Compliance Practices” for new products and market expansions.
- Monitor and upload customs requirement data on the ERP system.
- Help build and improve SellerX Group’s import and export global trade management solutions.
Your Background
To join our team, you bring along
- Familiarity with the General Rules of Interpretation, Harmonized (Tariff) Schedules, and the relevant customs laws in the EU or US
- Solid understanding of EU or US customs and trade compliance, including customs valuation, incoterms, and the creation of import and export declarations
- Proficient with ERP systems, Global Trade Management solutions, and MS Office (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Self-directed, organized and capable of handling multiple, complex projects
- Experience in a high paced environment;
- Team player with strong influencing and communication skills at all organizational levels;
Nice to have, but not required:
- Experience working in a corporate legal environment or in-house customs specialist
- Certified EU customs specialist, or licensed customs broker
- Knowledge of labelling and marking requirements, such as country of origin markings, product compliance for inbound shipments, and exposure to international regulatory structures
