Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal IT Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our Whatfix’s IT infrastructure. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise, ensuring our systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with business goals. As a Principal IT Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping our technology roadmap and mentoring a team of IT professionals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
Design and implement enterprise-level IT strategies to support business goals.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align IT solutions with organizational needs.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their adoption to maintain competitive advantage.
2. Infrastructure Management
Oversee the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud environments.
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity across IT systems.
Optimize infrastructure performance through capacity planning and resource allocation.
3. Security and Compliance
Develop and enforce IT security policies to protect organizational assets.
Conduct risk assessments and implement robust cybersecurity measures.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
4. Team Leadership and Mentorship
Lead or mentor a team of IT engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Provide technical guidance on complex projects and initiatives.
5. Project Management
Plan, execute, and oversee IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate IT solutions seamlessly.
Prepare detailed documentation and reports for stakeholders.
6. Operational Excellence
Monitor and manage IT operations to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
Implement automation and process improvements to enhance service delivery.
Handle escalations and troubleshoot critical issues effectively
Qualifications and Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, or related fields.
Proven expertise in designing and managing enterprise IT systems, including hybrid cloud environments.
Strong knowledge of networking, ITSM, and cybersecurity principles.
Preferred
Certifications like CISSP, ITIL, CCNP, or AWS Solutions Architect.
Experience in implementing DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines).
Experience with SaaS applications in a corporate IT environment.
Familiarity with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
