We are looking for a Data Engineer who will strengthen our Data Platform team at Mews. The Data Platform team is part of Data Tribe that includes our data engineers, analysts, and scientists, totaling more than 30 people that provide self-service data platform and build data & AI products to drive data-informed decisions and actionable insights for Mews and our customers. We discover and deliver company-wide data projects and analyses and research new value in data.
The Data Platform team is responsible for developing and managing the Mews Data Platform, which serves as the backbone for our products and analytics. Our goal is to enable business users to dedicate their time to solving business challenges and analysts to focus on data analysis, rather than getting caught up in the details of locating data, data integration, or deploying new machine learning models. Our development approach prioritises scalability and automation. We collaborate on our initiatives as a cohesive team, delivering them iteratively, and take pride in the technical excellence of our results. Our tech stack is built on top of Azure. We use Databricks, Azure SQL, PySpark, dbt, Kafka, Pulumi, Looker, and GoodData.

✅ Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
- Work on a variety of data projects, collaborating with our product teams, business operations, and marketing. This may include tasks such as developing, managing, and monitoring ELT pipelines, designing data models, participating in code and design reviews, as well as automating workflows and processes.
- Offer guidance and expertise throughout the engineering organization to promote the platform’s adoption and unlock new use cases. This may include empowering upstream teams and systems to efficiently publish and manipulate data, or establishing infrastructure for end users to build, host, monitor and deploy their own data products.
- Research how we can benefit from new features, technologies, and practices in data engineering – and implement these findings.
🤝️ You’ll be a great fit if you bring a few of the below with you:
- Eager to help us change the world (of hospitality).
- Experienced with various data warehousing technologies, data engineering tools, and analytical tools within or beyond our tech stack. Ideally you have a track record of implementing and owning components of a cloud-based data platform.
- Proficient in SQL.
- Possessing coding expertize, preferably in Python/PySpark.
- Enthusiastic about technology.
- Lazy to repeat mundane tasks and rather inclined toward automating them.
- Committed to seeking improved and creative resolutions.
- Embodying a collaborative spirit, keen on both learning from and educating your teammates.
- Capable of effective communication in English.
