The opportunity:
We're seeking a Software Engineer II (SWE II) to join our multi-disciplinary Shipping Solutions Team. This team builds tools for customers who use Flexport’s emerging Booking Management and Order Management systems to connect with their suppliers and contractors, putting you at the center of a developing product with direct impact to the company’s business strategy. This role is perfect for someone passionate about building customer facing tools for enterprise workflows and developing the strategy for automating operational processes through technologies like OCR and AI. The successful candidate will be comfortable working alongside other engineering peers, as well as partnering with product and business stakeholders to represent technical considerations for our products. Familiarity with the logistics industry or manufacturing is a plus, but not required.
***This position requires attendance in the Bellevue, WA office 3 days a week with flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week***
You will:
- Work closely with business partners and product managers to distill complex business problems into elegant technical solutions.
- Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in a microservice architecture.
- Design, develop, test and maintain systems that represent the real-world intricacies of logistics entities, such as packing lists, booking notifications, and routing guides.
- Architect and drive cross-team projects. This team is building solutions that add new functionality to multiple Flexport systems.
- Build and launch products rapidly and incrementally leveraging best practices around CI/CD to facilitate development.
- Ensure our products maintain a high-quality bar. We believe in anticipating issues by obsessing over metrics and applying key learnings from post-mortems to all our services.
You should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in full stack development with demonstrated skill in writing code and designing systems.
- Proficient in modern programming languages like Java, Python, Ruby, or Node.js
- Expertise with technologies like databases, API development, and testing frameworks.
- Expertise with deploying, monitoring, and maintaining production services.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range displayed, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and / or training.
The US base salary range for this position: (exclusive of bonus, equity and benefits.)
$145,000—$184,000 USD
