Data Migration Engineer
Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week in our Ballymena HQ, Co Antrim.
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent. 40 hrs per week, Mon - Fri.

At PlotBox we deal with a huge amount of data, ranging from critical business data to precious genealogical information. Our customers expect their data to be accurate and safe during the on-boarding process and whilst operating on a cloud platform. We provide our customers with confidence from the beginning of our relationship.
To support recent growth, we are looking for a talented individual who is experienced in working with data to join our team. You will be working alongside other members of an agile team to complete customer data migration projects from a variety of source systems. Although the Data Team is centred around customer projects, this is a non-customer facing role and the focus will be on the technical side of work.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced data specialist with strong SQL skills (or similar language/ technology) with a desire to further develop their skills in data acquisition, manipulation, cleansing, testing and migration.
What you will do :
As Data Migration Engineer, you will be responsible for retrieving and manipulating data in databases from legacy systems while ensuring that data quality, integrity and completeness is maintained:
- Developing migration scripts from target databases to upgraded schema
- Working with various types of data ranging from personal ownership records through to complex financial data
- Estimating and completing tasks as part of a Sprint team
- Executing customer data migration plans
- Analysing clients data and draft data analysis reports
- Delivering Quality Assurance tests and checks on Data Migration scripts
- Working with the Technical Consultants to understand requirements and correct issues flagged in UAT
- Ensuring all Project Data Migration activities are delivered on-time, within scope and to budget
What we are looking for :
- At least 3 years working with varied data formats (csv, MS SQL, Excel, MySQL Postgres etc) ideally for complex data migration from legacy systems to SaaS
- Developed over a period of time, you will have solid SQL skills, including query writing and stored procedures
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or working knowledge of Google Drives (docs, sheets, slides etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrable experience working effectively as part of a team and delighting the customer
- Relevant educational background, preferably in the fields of computer science or a relevant professional IT qualification (or equivalent work experience)
Desirable Experience -Its not a deal breaker, but ideally you will have:
- Basic knowledge of Python
