The role:
The Commercial Lead will be responsible for managing commercial transactions with insurance and other industry partners from inception through to execution and beyond. This role requires a deep understanding of financials, exceptional organisation and the ability to work cross-functionally to ensure the successful delivery of business objectives.
You will need to build a first-class understanding of our proposition, including how it can be tailored to meet our partners’ requirements, as well as the business’s go-to-market strategy. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a proven track record in executing complex, multi-functional projects within the insurance and/or tech sectors.
Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the end-to-end commercial lifecycle, from deal origination through to negotiation, execution, and post-deal management.
- Bring to life commercial strategies that align with the company’s overall objectives.
- Work closely with finance, legal, sales, marketing, product and technical teams to structure and execute deals efficiently.
- Analyse financial data to assess the viability of deals and ensure commercial sustainability.
- Develop customer-centric propositions that align with the insurer partner and YuLife’s company’s objectives and brand positioning.
- Create compelling business cases and articulate the same via presentation of our capabilities to insurer partners
- Maintain and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
- Ensure robust commercial governance and risk management across all deals.
- Drive process improvements to enhance commercial execution and operational efficiency.
- Oversee contract negotiations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Provide direction to team members, ensuring alignment and accountability in achieving commercial objectives.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in a commercial role within a UK-based insurance and/or tech business.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyse and interpret financial statements, P&L reports, and forecasts.
- Exceptional negotiation and deal-making skills, with a track record of executing complex commercial agreements.
- Experience managing commercial transactions with insurance and other institutional industry partners.
- Ability to execute complex, multi-functional projects successfully.
- Highly organised and diligent, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong managerial skills, capable of managing and motivating large cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a results-driven mindset.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
