About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Platform Editorial team in our London office. In this entry-level role, you will be an integral part of a small, dedicated team, contributing to the voice of MUBI’s editorial worldwide.
Please note: we are not looking for a commissioning editor. This is predominantly a writing role, providing best-in-class texts in support of MUBI's international programming.
You will focus on:
Writing concise, lively, and well-researched short texts that introduce MUBI’s programming across its platforms internationally.
Researching and writing more extensive texts that contextualize curated film collections, ranging from double features and thematic programs to expansive retrospectives.
Contributing long-form programming essays in support of MUBI’s highest-profile titles.
Working in collaboration with the Video team on a series of video essays.
In conjunction with the Programming team, working to conceptualize the perspective and presentation of film programs.
Working to develop and maintain MUBI’s curatorial voice.
In conjunction with the Editorial Managers, ensuring texts are delivered consistently, and that you are hitting regular deadlines, as well as maximizing the team’s writing quality and output.
What you will bring:
Demonstrable experience writing on film or film-related subjects.
Ability to write about diverse kinds of films from a wide array of countries, genres, and eras in a fluid and engaging style.
A wide-ranging knowledge of film culture, both contemporary and historical.
Strong research and organizational skills.
A drive to meet tight deadlines.
Familiarity with contemporary film writing and conversation.
Impeccable attention to detail.
Comfortable working both independently and within a team.
Familiarity with the film streaming landscape.
Experience editing other writers is a plus.
