Job Description
Location: London, Hybrid
We’re delighted to open a role for an Analytics Engineer to join our Choice Tribe, where you’ll play an integral part in shaping our data strategy. We’re looking for someone with strong expertise in dbt and Databricks who is eager to collaborate and innovate. In this role, you’ll go beyond traditional data modelling by building meaningful relationships with stakeholders, understanding their challenges, and working together to create impactful solutions. Your goal will be to uncover opportunities, address needs, and deliver thoughtful strategies—whether enhancing existing dbt models, developing new ones, or leveraging current data.
We value creative problem solvers who put people at the heart of their work and embrace innovative, customer-focused approaches. As we develop a semantic layer for our data to integrate with GenAI, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to shape how we advance self-serve analytics. By enabling non-technical stakeholders to explore data independently and make informed decisions, you’ll play a key role in driving positive change. This is your chance to make a real difference in how we use data to empower our teams and grow our business.
What you’ll do
- Build deep expertise in all Choice data, particularly digital data, to uncover insights into customer behavior and develop meaningful models.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand their unique needs and challenges, translating them into effective, tailored data solutions.
- Take ownership of data ingestion pipelines, improving and automating them to ensure they are efficient, reliable, and scalable. Resolve issues, validate large files, and enable advanced data extraction while ensuring adaptability.
- Translate business requirements into data models and dashboards, standardising metrics to create a trusted, flexible source of truth for stakeholders.
- Enhance analytics operations by refining tools, systems, and processes for efficient data gathering, analysis, and reporting, with a focus on dbt core, git repositories, and CircleCI workflows.
- Work closely with product teams as an embedded analytics engineer to enhance data assets, ensuring they evolve with the needs of your squad and are consistently reliable and effective.
Who you are
- Experienced in analytics or data engineering roles, with proficiency in SQL for writing, optimizing queries, and troubleshooting.
- Technically skilled in Python, dbt, Databricks, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), with strong knowledge of ETL/ELT processes.
- Proficient in version control tools like GIT, fostering collaborative and efficient development.
- A clear and empathetic communicator, capable of translating technical concepts into accessible language for a variety of audiences.
- Motivated and proactive, balancing independent work with collaboration to refine ideas and gather feedback.
- Thoughtful and strategic, ensuring solutions align with broader data strategies while meeting immediate needs.
- Dedicated to enabling self-serve analytics, designing scalable and flexible data models that anticipate future requirements.
- Agile and adaptable, delivering minimum viable products (MVPs) that are extendable for future improvements.
- Highly organized and adept at managing multiple projects, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
