About the Role
We're at an exciting stage of growth, and are looking for someone to join our Programming team for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
MUBI is looking for a Programming Manager to join our team in Berlin. Working across Programming and Licensing, and closely with our content and marketing teams, you would be central to bringing great cinema to the MUBI platform in the German speaking territories.
You will focus on:
Help implement MUBI’s Programming vision in Germany and German-speaking territories in alignment with key metrics and growth objectives
Drive platform growth through strategic use of content based on performance data, including developing stunts, planning monthly highlights and liaising with Marketing on key titles
Screen and evaluate content for platform suitability in order to curate an exciting line-up of titles and collections that fit MUBI's editorial line and brand universe while supporting the acquisition and retention of subscribers
Build monthly schedules and create monthly curation documentation to be presented and shared with other teams such as marketing.
Ensure content is presented optimally, adhering to MUBI’s curatorial values and core objective
Source, negotiate, and draft licence deals for library titles and platform exclusives for Germany.
Maintain relationships with rights holders across Germany, ranging from local distributors, to filmmakers and producers to secure library deals and earlier window licensing opportunities
Report on the programme’s performance, prepare analytics reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
Work with the analytics team to extract data and understand customer viewing behaviour to inform curation, valuations and investment decisions
Organise and maintain the local inventory, gauging programming possibilities and activating local licensing initiatives
Participate in the overall licensing strategy and workflow while constantly improving methodology and tool efficiency, and maintain an up to date market knowledge.
Work with the Editorial team to introduce and contextualise programming for German subscribers
What you will bring:
3-5 years experience in the film or streaming industry in a curatorial or licensing role, with at least 2 years of experience doing acquisitions, programming or sales
Proficient in streaming data/ viewing data analytics and ability to look at data to inform editorial decision-making
Passionate about great cinema. Strong cinema knowledge—domestic and international, past and present—is strongly desired.
Familiarity with local distributors and good understanding of the arthouse and independent film market, and the digital distribution landscape in Germany
Excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills to effectively manage multiple concurrent tasks
A hands-on approach and desire to try new things
A co-operative, communicative, and team-oriented work style
Excellent written and verbal skills in English and German
A keen interest and enthusiasm in working within the fast-moving media industry
