š Mission & ResponsibilitiesĀ
As General Counsel, you will manage a wide range of legal and regulatory matters, helping Morpho navigate complex landscapes and make informed decisions. You will work closely with leadership on high-impact projects while also providing fast, pragmatic advice on time-sensitive issues. Your versatility and ability to understand both regulatory and business needs will make you an essential part of Morpho's growth.
Product Life-cycle Counseling & Support:
- Develop strong relationships across teams to ensure legal involvement in all key product and business decisions.
- Provide risk-weighted advice on regulatory, contractual, and strategic matters, ensuring compliance without stifling innovation.
- Offer support on communications, growth initiatives, and partnerships.
- Define internal policies to ensure compliance on all relevant topics (tax, GDPR, working laws, etc).
Coordination with External Counsels:
- Manage relationships with external legal experts across different jurisdictions and fields, including regulatory, tax, IP, and commercial law.
- Ensure seamless collaboration between internal teams and external advisors to address legal concerns efficiently.
Regulatory Risk Management:
- Stay informed about relevant international and U.S. laws related to DeFi and crypto, particularly in areas of regulatory uncertainty.
- Guide the team in understanding and mitigating risks, particularly in the EU (MiCA)Ā and U.S. (Securities Law).
Strategic Decision-Making:
- Be involved in high-impact decisions regarding product development, token launches, partnerships, and governance strategies.
- Support the decentralization of the protocol and lead legal documentation efforts related to the Morpho ecosystem participants (app terms of use, legal memos, contracts, investor agreements, etc).
š§ Must-have Experience & SkillsĀ
5+ years of experience in legal roles, with a focus on product counsel as an in-house legal in a tech startups or as an external counsel.
3+ years of experience in the crypto industry, with a deep understanding of U.S. securities law and regulatory frameworks.
Experience managing legal matters in areas like intellectual property, strategic partnerships, and compliance.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments, providing actionable advice with quick turnarounds.
Strong communication and business acumen, capable of offering clear, pragmatic advice that weighs both risks and opportunities.
Experience coordinating with external legal counsel and stakeholders in complex jurisdictions (EU, U.S.).
Comfortable working in areas where the regulation is still evolving andĀ finding solutions that mitigate risks rather than eliminate them fully.
English proficiency with strong written and verbal communication skills
