The Role and Team
The Site Reliability Engineering organization at Medallia brings together the infrastructure and applications that power a highly reliable global SaaS platform. In particular, Provisioning and Deployment SREs own the provisioning and deployment of different products and their infrastructure stack at Medallia, and ensure that they continue to scale with our rapidly-growing business. We are constantly growing our footprint to meet and exceed the demands in multiple geographical regions. Most of our products operate in Kubernetes environments. Our team is built of true professionals, who leverage the benefits of all SRE approaches. Engineers can build their careers and increase their professional weight with the full support of Medallia.
We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python Developer) to join our Provisioning and Deployment team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Python programming, extensive experience in developing and maintaining automation frameworks, and a passion for optimizing processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable automation solutions and systems that enhance productivity and efficiency. These systems are integral to our capability to advance our industry-leading SaaS platform.
Please note, that this role will require being on a rotating on-call shift which includes being available during evenings, weekends, and holidays when scheduled.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable automation frameworks using Python
- Develop and implement new functionality that is essential for orchestrating the complex rollout of Medallia Experience Cloud releases into environments across
- multiple data centers and geographic regions
- Maintain and improve the systems used to deploy, scale, and operate databases dynamically
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide automation solutions
- Mentor and guide junior developers and engineers in best practices for Python and automation development
- Partner with the database administration team to understand requirements and use cases
- Ensure observability of our deployment stack to achieve and maintain proper alerting and monitoring
Be part of the SRE team’s on-call rotation for escalations
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of engineering experience working on distributed systems or operations engineering
- 5 years of Python experience
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience operating Postgres databases
- Strong understanding of software fundamentals, development processes, and best practices
- Demonstrated fluency in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to be part of the team’s on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in bash and Golang
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience working with a distributed team
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment
- System troubleshooting skills
