The position
At Hive, we're building the leading operations platform for independent commerce and we are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in transforming how Hive leverages data to optimize and scale our operations. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations teams to develop data-driven insights, build advanced machine learning models, and deliver impactful analytic products. Your work will help shape key decisions, improve business efficiency, and enhance the overall customer experience for the brands that trust Hive with their operations.
What you'll be doing
- Build and deploy predictive models, optimization algorithms, and statistical analyses to solve key business problems, such as demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and supply chain efficiency.
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, and operations teams to define data-driven strategies and incorporate models into our technology stack.
- Design and implement robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, scalability, and performance.
- Lead the design, execution, and analysis of A/B tests and other experiments to validate hypotheses and inform product development.
- Mentor junior data scientists, contributing to the growth of the data team, and helping foster a culture of learning and innovation.
- Stay ahead of the latest trends in machine learning, AI, and data science to ensure Hive remains at the cutting edge of technology.
Your profile

- Your background: You have an MS degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field
- You have the skills: 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a similar role. Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- You care about the craft: Proven ability to work on complex problems and deliver innovative, data-driven solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- You are a self-starter: Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and take ownership of outcomes.
- Collaboration is key: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You have a passion for E-commerce: Enthusiastic about leveraging data to optimize e-commerce operations and enhance customer experiences.
Bonus points:
- Big Data/ Machine Learning: Experience working with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP). Strong understanding of statistical modeling, optimization techniques, and machine learning algorithms.
