Your Mission
The Production Engineer Composites will hold responsibility for overseeing the carbon fibre manufacturing processes to exceed expectations for product quality, cost and delivery, maximizing efficiency, optimizing production levels and driving operational excellence. Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, regarding technical support, striving for best-in-class products and business practices. Building a rocket, we have the following key production processes: additive manufacturing, CNC turning and milling, assembly processes, carbon fibre composites, electronics manufacturing and welding. Some of the processes are fully automated. Our machine park includes only the most advanced and latest machinery and equipment.
More specifically, you will:
- Process Design and Optimization to efficiently produce high-quality carbon fibre parts. This involves selecting appropriate materials, methods, and equipment.
- Quality Control by monitoring to ensure we meet stringent specifications and industrial standards
- Tooling and Equipment Management by designing and maintaining Molds, fixtures, and equipment used in the production process. This includes ensuring the machinery is properly calibrated and maintained
- Cost Management by analysing and managing production costs, including material costs, Labor, and overhead, to improve cost efficiency without compromising quality
- Troubleshooting by identifying and resolving production issues, such as defects or process inefficiencies, to ensure smooth and continuous operation
- Research and Development by staying updated on new materials, technologies, and techniques in carbon fibre production to continuously improve processes and products
- Documentation and reporting by maintaining detailed records of production processes, outcomes, and any issues that arise, as well as preparing reports for management and stakeholders
- Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency with automation
- Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
Who you are and what you have
- BSc/MSc in an engineering discipline
- Supports and coordination of development teams in the creation of procedures
- Support development teams in the definition of requirements
- Independent handling/transfer of procedures to the PLM/MES system
- Training and knowledge-transfer to and from technicians
- Independent work on procedures, systematic categorization of all procedures
- Programming skills for winding machines and/or AFP is a plus
- Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
- Resilient, self-motivated and able to work well under pressure
- Lean production knowledge
- Highly organized and proactive with high attention to detail
- Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills fluent in English, German is a Plus
Nice to have:
- Experience in quality assurance, automated testing (e.g. NDT, Ultrasonic)
- Experience in automated fibre placement technology (AFP)
- Experience in mechanical post processes (e.g. drilling) is a plus
