eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer (f/m/d) with a focus on cryogenics and vacuum.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out the development and design of highly innovative mechanical components, and their integration into the overall quantum computer design system in cooperation with systems experts
- Take responsibility for the detailed design of thermal pathways and interfaces, and tracking thermal budgets for quantum computers
- Create 3D CAD models and drawings for manufacturing, define the product’s mechanical design, and manage CAD data, parts lists, and the Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Define manufacturing specifications, support procurement in supplier validation, and collaborate with suppliers on methods, materials, and requirements
- Assist with quick proof of concepts and feasibility discussions
- Test mechanical prototypes and check them against specifications
- Facilitate proactive communication and close coordination with customers and suppliers in collaboration with procurement
- Continuously optimize processes within the existing work environment
Required skills:
- BSc. or M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering or comparable.
- 2+ years of experience in an engineering or R&D environment.
- Experience in design and development of bespoke machinery or systems
- Experience with cryogenics and pumped vacuum applications
- Experience in manufacturing processes and treatments of broad range of materials beside steel and aluminum
- Knowledge of setting up product structure in PDM, PLM and ERP System
- Experience with systematic product development processes
- Well organized and structured way of working
- Being adaptable while practicing critical thinking
- Business fluent in English, knowledge of German is a plus

- Experience in FEM simulations and calculations
