About the Role
Payhawk Financial Services UAB (PFS UAB) is a licensed Electronic Money Institution (EMI) in Lithuania. As the Director of Compliance, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliance function within PFS UAB, overseeing current processes, and driving the implementation of new ones. The successful candidate will work as an integrated part of our global Compliance team, leveraging the broader organization and its resources to maintain an effective compliance and risk program and ensure that we meet all regulatory obligations.
As a senior team member, you will:
- Be responsible for management of PFS UAB compliance risks and for the development of the overall strategy of the PFS UAB’s compliance function, including in relation to governance and culture; strategy and objective setting.
- Ensure processes are in line with statutory and regulatory requirements and industry guidance; and
- Be directly accountable to the firm’s Management Board and will be permanent attendee of the meetings of the firm’s Management Board.
The ideal candidate should have at least 5+ years of experience in a senior role in a regulated Financial Services industry (such as payments, banking or fintech) and ideally, in a fast-scaling environment, where they were responsible for building the team and processes from scratch.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the compliance function within PFSUAB, including adherence to the laws of the Republic of Lithuania and the EU, as well as the Articles of Association (AoA), internal policies, and regulations.
- Identifying and assessing the compliance risks of PFSUAB and assisting managers in mitigating these risks.
- Being responsible for the development and implementation of compliance monitoring plans.
- Developing and monitoring control systems to prevent or address violations of internal documents and legal acts.
- Identifying, assessing, controlling, and analyzing all major risks that affect or may affect PFSUAB’s business, and conducting risk monitoring to ensure employees and teams provide appropriate oversight of their risks.
- Implementing processes within PFSUAB to enable the identification, measurement, monitoring, and control of all risks faced by PFSUAB.
- Updating policies and procedures in response to legal and regulatory reforms, and collaborating with internal teams on implementation and operational changes.
- Monitoring pending regulatory changes and preparing for compliance with them.
- Leading engagements with internal and external auditors, preparing mitigation plans, and monitoring the execution of those plans.
- Preparing compliance reports for the Board.
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in a banking, payment or law industry in the compliance area, with proficient knowledge of laws and regulations in Lithuanian and the EU;
- Education in the field of Law is a must;
- General familiarity with laws and regulations governing financial institutions;
- Good understanding of the SaaS industry and venture-backed businesses;
- Experience in a fast-scaling, high-velocity and dynamic environment, ideally with a track record of successfully building business, operating and outsourcing processes from scratch
