Hi there, we're happy you found your way here!
We are Tibber, the energy company that wants you to use less energy. Whaaat? That’s right. We’ll get back to that. Yes, we are by definition an energy company, but we’re more techy than most. How and why you might ask. Well, a third of our employees are actually working on developing products and solutions that can help you use energy in a smarter way and at a lower cost – all with the help of cool fancy tech. Good for our customers, their wallets, and the planet.
Our growth rate has been truly amazing, and still, we’re just getting started. With millions of smart devices connected to the Tibber platform (like electric vehicles and smart thermostats), we have one of the most unique portfolios trading energy on the market.
Job Mission 🚀
We are looking for a mid level and a senior Web Engineer to join the e-commerce product area. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems that support Tibber’s rapidly growing composable e-commerce platform. We want to build the worlds largest VPP and the Tibber store is the spider in the web making that vision true. Working with modern technologies you'll help ensure our system can scale to support millions of store customers during peak season.
In this role, you will help us build and maintain parts of our store backend. The role entails close cooperation with other Backend Engineers, Frontend Engineers, Designers, and Data Analysts within our domain.
Some of your responsibilities (but not limited to) include:
- Bringing new ideas to the table and pushing for experimentation
- Championing your vision of what the e-commerce platform should be
- Debugging and triaging system-wide complications
- Knowledge sharing and collaboration across engineering
- Keeping up with technical developments in the field
- Ensuring our services are running smoothly on our cloud-native architecture
- Handle complex integrations with Akeneo PIM, Brink, and other third-party services.
You are not expected to juggle all the above at the same time, but you should ideally be a versatile Engineer who thrives in a scale-up environment.
Ability to build, contribute to, and maintain relevant services and tools. You would be a key contributor to the e-commerce engineering crew and are expected to collaborate with your colleagues on designing and developing scalable and robust solutions. We strive for a outcome-oriented product development environment and hope you want to as well.
Engineering contribution. As part of the Engineering culture here at Tibber, we always strive to further develop how we work with everything from tooling to architecture and collaboration. You’re expected to take an active part in that work and those discussions.
Ideally you are ⚡️
Proficient in Backend technologies. You have at least 5 years of experience working with modern backend technologies Node.js and Typescript. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred) is a plus. While you may not have experience with all of our tools, you're excited to dive in and learn.
Collaborative. You enjoy working in cross-functional teams, communicating effectively with Designers, Product Owners, and other Engineers, and are familiar with tools like Github and CircleCI for CI/CD.
Cloud and Infrastructure. Familiarity with cloud-native architecture, particularly with AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes, will help you thrive in this role. Senior candidates may have more experience designing and implementing cloud-native solutions, but for mid-level candidates, a willingness to learn and grow in this area is key.
Fullstack Capable. Ideally you are comfortable working across our stack, experience with frontend technologies Javascript (ideally framework React) is highly appreciated.
E-commerce Enthusiast. Ideally you have experience with or interest in working with composable e-commerce tools like Akeneo PIM, Brink eCommerce, and CRM systems eg. Braze. For Senior candidates, familiarity with integrating these tools into backend systems would be a big plus.
Leadership and Mentorship skills. If you’re applying as a more senior applicant, you ideally have experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior Engineers. You probably also have some experience managing stakeholders and have no problems talking to people outside of the team. For a mid-level applicant, this is an exciting opportunity to grow into these responsibilities.
