We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution to offer a broad range of investment products in their apps. Our view is backed by Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) by renowned fintech entrepreneurs (including Maximilian Tayenthal, founder of N26, and Felix Haas, founder of IDnow) and Bessemer Venture Partners in the USA.
At Upvest, our vision is to make investing as easy as spending money. By enabling any business to offer investment opportunities, our goal is to empower anyone to invest. Today, we count 150+ talented people from 30 different countries.
As an Employee Experience Partner, your mission is to:
- Design and implement a consistent and exciting employee experience strategy for Upvengers worldwide (employees working at the Berlin headquarters, satellite hubs or fully remotely).
- Take a holistic approach to the employee experience design by focusing on all 3 aspects (physical, digital and cultural) and partner closely with other People sub-teams, TechOps and Upvest departments to identify meaningful employee lifecycle moments and find innovative ways to engage our employees.
- Own the Upvest event organisation, strategy and related budgets. You become an event coordinator and one-person powerhouse to make things happen. In addition to company-wide events, you ensure we regularly have smaller events and learning and networking opportunities at the office.
- The office is our home base, where employees love to meet and spend time. Later this year, we will move to a brand new office in the heart of Berlin (close to Torstraße, 10 minutes walk from Alexanderplatz). You lead the interior design project and collaborate closely with the Finance and Strategy & Org. teams and external professionals to make the new office a fantastic place to work.
- Build a community and nurture belonging and inclusive organisational culture.
- Collaborate closely with the TA team to define and build our employer brand. You identify and create competitive advantages, actively look for events, meet-ups, and opportunities to attract, engage and retain talent. You also make our efforts visible on social media with close collaboration with the Marketing team to strengthen our employer brand.
- Lead by example and with a positive attitude. You enable, empower and create opportunities for Upvengers to network and learn and grow. This can mean smaller initiatives at the office or organising company-wide trainings owned by the People team or L&D. You also create meaningful opportunities for the Management and leadership to engage with employees.
- Take a strategic approach to support, align and achieve our business goals. Employee experience is not just about moments that matter. It is also about value creation for the business and improving performance through engagement. You collaborate closely with the business to better understand the needs for engagement.
- Working in an outcome-focused manner towards company objectives and people team goals and leading your own projects to achieve our KRs. You are always on the pulse, continuously measuring job satisfaction, the impact of our initiatives and other relevant metrics.
- As a People team member, you participate in the People team's day-to-day and support other sub-teams, e.g. in leading projects, participating in the new joiner onboarding, organising training, creating programs and taking responsibility for the People team's work.
- You always view everything in the people context and understand what it means to work with privileged access and sensitive data.
Job requirements:
- 5+ years of experience and proven track record in people experience, people engagement, event coordination/organisation and/or project management or equal skills and experience
- Deep understanding of the purpose and importance of great employee experience and how it affects attracting and retaining talent in today's competitive market and creates business value and impact
- Prior experience in managing multiple projects at once and leading and executing big projects without a dedicated in-house team
- Experience working with and connections to Berlin's "events and activities" scene
- Detail-orientated approach and ability to work effectively and in an organised manner in high-pressure situations to keep the deadlines, budgets and achieve goals
- Experience in negotiating and managing budgets
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience in effective stakeholder management
- Strong communication skills (written and spoken) in English and ability and willingness to produce content
- A positive can-do attitude and willingness to continuously improve
- Business acumen and desire to learn more about the Fintech industry and our product
- Tech-savvy
- This is a Berlin-based role (we will support you in relocating)
Nice to have:
- Keen visual eye and experience working with designers to produce branded items and content
- Having at least B1-B2 level written and spoken in German will make the work with vendors easier
- Interest towards DEIB
- Experience in developing and improving the physical working environment
What do we offer:
- Opportunity to show impact on the company's success through employee experience and engagement
- Independence and end-to-end ownership and responsibility of the employee experience, events and office/physical space while working as a part of the People Excellence team
- Being a driver and strategic partner to the employees and leadership in your responsibility areas
- Flexible working hours and location, an opportunity to take occasional workations almost anywhere in the world
- Opportunity to become an expert on the domain areas and learn and grow through the People team goals and your personal development goals
- Personal training and development budget
- 30 vacation days annually (plus public holidays)
- Competitive compensation package including annual salary and company shares
Why Upvest?
- We're working on solving a hard problem: fixing the European securities financial infrastructure that empowers more people to be able to invest. You have the opportunity to contribute to this change.
- We invest in you. From access to a personal coach, development budget and plenty of opportunities to grow in your role.
- We take hiring seriously with a strong focus on keeping a high bar when interviewing (equally important is that we hire decent people, who are passionate about their craft and helping us achieve our shared mission).
- While we're not quite fully remote, we are committed to being a flexible employer, as we understand you don't have to be in the office to do your best work.
- We live a culture of empowerment, trust (that we hire the best people and get out of their way) and openness (there's a greater advantage in sharing information than keeping it to ourselves).
Our values:
- Learn and grow. We aim high to shape our future. We give and request honest feedback knowing that we develop together. Progress over Perfection.
- Team first. We make it easy for others. We value our differences and are open to others' opinions. We win and celebrate together! Team over Egos.
- Own the outcome. Whether we win or we lose, we stand together. We are proactive and get the job done. Outcome over Process.
- Tell the story. We always start with the why. We share knowledge to empower others. Transparency over Complexity.
Upvest is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
