The Workplace Facilities Director is responsible for leadership of our Workplace Team and operational management of our offices and event spaces (San Francisco and Mountain View, CA). You will partner with our leadership team on initiatives involving workplace planning, acquiring new properties, construction projects, and buildouts while overseeing the day-to-day operations of our two San Francisco locations.

We want someone meticulous who understands that love is in the details. YC is a special experience for our founders, and our workspaces play a fundamental role.
Location: Y Combinator is headquartered in San Francisco. This is an onsite position with routine visits to Mountain View.
Leadership & Strategy:
Partner with our leadership team on workplace planning initiatives, acquiring new properties, onsite construction projects, and buildouts.
Always be one step ahead ensuring our workspaces are “best in class” and provide the best experience for employees, guests, and most importantly our founders.
Leadership of our Workplace Team including Workplace Ops Manager, Office Manager, and security team.
Work cross-functionally with HR, Events, Finance, Legal, and Group Partners ensuring our spaces are well-designed and well-equipped.
Facilities Operations Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of our San Francisco offices.
Oversee building maintenance, repairs, janitorial services, security, and safety protocols.
Implement systems to monitor and optimize energy use, utilities, and building management.
Other:
Manage relationships with external contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely, cost-effective service delivery.
Manage the facilities budget, including forecasting and expense tracking.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding building codes, environmental standards, and workplace safety.
Experience & Skills:
7+ years leading workplace operations.
Strong knowledge of building systems, space planning, architecture, and construction processes.
Strong experience leading real estate searches, permitting, and acquiring new properties.
Proven ability to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with external vendors.
Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
Compensation: At Y Combinator, base salary is only one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package. The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 (depending on skills and experience).
