We’re looking for fintech enthusiasts to join us in creating the financial infrastructure of tomorrow. We’re building the first European Investment API to enable any financial institution offering a wide range of efficient and transparent investment products, such as stocks and ETFs in nominal, portfolio, and fractional form. Our mission and vision is to make investing as easy as spending money.
We’re based in Berlin but are also open to hiring remotely in Germany or Estonia for this role. If you're currently based elsewhere but would like to move to Germany, we’re happy to support your relocation.
Your mission:
Are you passionate about shaping the future of risk management through cutting-edge technology? As a vital member of our team, you will contribute to the enhancement and innovative application of our internal control system and risk assessments by technologically advancing the Internal Control framework within our company. With this, you will participate in safeguarding securities assets, optimising risk management, and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
Evaluate and Enhance Internal Controls: Support the analysis of existing internal control processes to identify areas for improvement. Propose innovative solutions to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of these controls.
Engage in Monitoring Activities: Participate in the ongoing monitoring and improving of internal controls.
Contribute to Control Activities: Work alongside experienced professionals to design and implement control activities that address identified risks, ensuring the accuracy of transactions and reliability of financial reporting. Further, you will help the team transform the controls and processes into respective tools.
Support the revamp of OpRisk Assessment: Automate non-financial risk assessments as well as contribute to the monitoring, identification, and evaluation of operational risk incidents, including near-misses and loss events.
Reporting and Analytics: Generate regular reports and dashboards from the OpRisk database to highlight incident trends, key risk indicators (KRIs), control effectiveness and areas requiring management attention.
Support Risk Assessment Initiatives: Collaborate with the team to conduct risk assessments, helping to ensure that all banking operations are aligned with our risk management objectives. Your fresh perspective will be invaluable in identifying emerging risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
Project Management: Support in coordinating audit processes across various teams to ensure smooth collaboration and timely execution.
Facilitate effective communication and information flow: Contribute to the development and distribution of clear, concise communication on internal controls and non-operational risks policies to all relevant stakeholders, enhancing awareness and understanding throughout the organisation.
Work cross-functionally with other Upvest teams (Operations, Product, Engineering, Growth, Finance and People), as well as external stakeholders (vendors).

You're passionate about Fintech and investment and eager to deepen your expertise in risk management within a BaFin-licensed institution. Bachelor/Master in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or similar.
