Director of Government Business Development and Strategy
We are seeking a versatile and dynamic Director of Government Business Development and Strategy to join our team. This unique role offers the opportunity to split your focus between managing key programs and driving our business development efforts. We are looking for someone who can excel in both areas, with a strong emphasis on business development, aligning with our growth strategy.
Responsibilities
Business Development (75% Focus):
- Strategic Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the defense sector, leveraging your network and industry insights to expand Castelion’s market presence.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, defense contractors, and other industry partners.
- Proposal Development: Lead the creation of proposals, presentations, and pitches for new projects and partnerships, ensuring alignment with Castelion’s strategic objectives.
- Brand Positioning: Work closely with marketing to position Castelion as a leader in the defense technology space, contributing to branding and thought leadership initiatives.
Program Management (25% Focus):
- Platform Integration: Oversee initial integration efforts for Castelion systems with existing government platforms (F-18/F-35/Naval Warship) including requirements identification, mechanical and electrical interface development, and programmatic support
- Platform Certification: Identify platform certification requirements and support initial certification execution
- Transition Planning: Work with the leadership team to identify and onboard a long-term Platform Program Manager, ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Skills:
- Proven track record in complex program management and government acquisition.
- Knowledge of existing government missile launch platforms and related certification requirements.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and drive results.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to take on diverse responsibilities.
Leadership Qualities
Bias to Action and Creative Problem Solving. Desire and experience questioning assumptions in ways that lead to break through ideas that are ultimately implemented. Successfully bring in applicable processes/concepts/materials from other industries to achieve efficiency gains. Ability to personally resolve minor issues in development without requiring significant support.

A successful candidate will have a genuine passion for Castelion’s mission and consistently look for ways to contribute to the company’s technical goals and prevent hardware blockers. Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere. Strong sense of accountability and integrity.
Clear Communicator. Proactively communicates blockers. Trusted in previous roles to be voice of company with regulators, suppliers, gate keepers and customers. Capable of tactfully managing relationships with stakeholders to achieve company-desired outcomes without compromising relationships. Emails, IMs and verbal interactions are logical, drive clarity, and detailed enough to eliminate ambiguity.
ITAR Requirements:
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
