We are seeking a skilled and versatile Data Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in building scalable, reliable, and ESG-focused data solutions. This position combines technical expertise in data engineering with additional analytical capabilities to ensure actionable insights can be derived from ESG data. The ideal candidate will not only design and maintain robust data pipelines but also contribute to analytics efforts, including basic reporting and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and storing ESG data from diverse sources.
- Implement ETL/ELT processes to ensure clean and accessible datasets for analytics purposes.
- Develop and optimize data models and warehouses (e.g., AWS Glue, Big Query, etc.) to support benchmarking, YoY tracking, and risk modelling.
- Ensure data governance and security compliance (e.g., GDPR) while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Perform basic data analysis using SQL or Python to identify trends, anomalies, or insights in ESG datasets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG metrics into simple dashboards or visualizations using tools like Looker or Omni to support customer-facing deliverables.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and align technical solutions with performance management goals.
- Support the creation of ROI case studies by extracting relevant data and assisting in financial modeling efforts.
Technical Skills:
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, preferably with exposure to ESG, FinTech, Renewable Energy & Utilities, or Transportation & Mobility projects.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as SFDR or PAI is a strong plus.
- Required experience working in cross-functional teams that include analysts, front-end developers, or ESG specialists.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python for data processing and automation.
- Expertise in SQL for querying databases and performing lightweight analytics tasks.
- Experience with modern cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for scalable storage and processing.
- Familiarity with big data technologies like Apache Spark or Kafka for real-time analytics.
- Knowledge of ETL tools and data warehousing solutions like Redshift or Big Query.
- Ability to create visualizations using Looker or Omni for stakeholder reporting.
Location
Strong preference for candidates to work from our Berlin office, spending 3 days per week on-site; however, a remote setup (within ±3 hours CEST) is also considered.
