Operations Associate
Department: Platform & Operations
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: San Francisco
Reporting To: Felicity Davies
Compensation: $70,000 - $95,000 / year
Description
Based in San Francisco, you will be the linchpin of our US program operations, bringing to life our
Talent Agent model and shaping our growing community of builders in the US.
Our SF site is the global hub for EF founders and companies from across the world. As part of the
Talent Agent model we bring together exceptional individuals who live together in our SF House and use our Office Hub. Additionally, the SF site exists to enable EF-funded companies to fundraise from Bay Area investors through the fundraising program (called ‘SF Launch’).
Joining the US operations team, you will be pivotal to our mission to enable founders to have the best possible experience and play an integral role in building EF’s reputation as one of the best places to find early-stage companies.
Please note: This role requires you to be able to work up to five days a week at our San Francisco office and be open to travel across the US.
What You’ll Do
1.
Support our US Talent Investors to bring to life the Talent Agent model at EF, through operational excellence
You will own how we operationally execute on our Talent Agent model, refining processes and reducing low leverage activities through automations and tooling. This could mean building automations using no-code technology or dashboards that surface important data in real-time. This can be learnt on the job, if you’re curious and have a strong growth-mindset
2. Own the operations behind our flagship Builder events
You will own the operations behind our
Build Retreats. These are regular events hosted across the US in extraordinary locations. Alongside the Retreats, you will work with our Talent Investors to activate the Builder community to create a highly engaged collection of exceptional builders across the US.
3. Build out the US operations function, setting the standard for operations at EF globally
You will partner closely with the Head of US Operations to build out the US operations function, ensuring operational efficiency across multiple US states. The team will rely on you to maintain the highest standards and lead by example in terms of operational excellence.
What you bring to the table
-
Operational experience: 2-3+ years in an operational, customer-facing role (e.g., Program Management, Venture Building, Data programming)
-
Tech-Savvy: Proficient in tools like Airtable, Slack, and Salesforce, with experience in creating automations. Curiosity and willingness to learn-on-the job will be considered, if you don’t have experience.
-
Strategic & Tactical Balance: Proven ability to think long-term while excelling in day-to-day execution.
-
High regard for detail: Meticulous in record-keeping and tracking metrics.
-
Team player: Exceptional verbal and written skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
Who you are
-
You thrive when making “order from chaos”. You bring structure to any environment you are part of and see ambiguity as an opportunity to define your role. You demonstrate maximum organizational efficiency to get things done on time and on budget, whilst staying open to changes which might arise.
-
You are looking for a fast-paced work culture and flourish in environments with high levels of ambiguity and change. You are able to synthesize large amounts of information quickly and take a First Principles approach to problem solving.
-
You are a clear communicator, and build trusted relationships with those you work with. You have a high EQ and team player mentality, enabling you to work with stakeholders of all different levels and expertise. You can both incorporate differing viewpoints in your work and be confident in communicating your own reasoning to get other teams bought in.
-
You take ownership of your work and growth, and enjoy high-trust, low-touch management. You are excited to upskill independently to drive your own development. You don’t wait to be told what to do, but take on a varied workload and context switch when needed. You prioritise the most important tasks rather than getting distracted by small issues, and only raise problems when you have a variety of solutions at hand.
