About the Role
MUBI has grown spectacularly over the last few years. This has been accompanied by increases in the complexity and geographical spread of the company’s operations, leading to new tax, audit, and compliance requirements.
For this newly-created role we are looking for an experienced accountant to play a key role in the annual group audit and statutory reporting process, and take the lead on developing our tax compliance processes as the company’s global reach grows and as we prepare for a future IPO.
If you are interested in taking your technical accounting and tax knowledge and applying it to a dynamic and growing company, this is the perfect role for you!
You will focus on:
Lead on tax compliance processes.
Monitor and ensure compliance with reporting and payment obligations across MUBI’s various global entities.
Identify and research requirements of tax jurisdictions where MUBI’s growth has led to new obligations, possibly with the assistance of external advisors.
Lead on technical accounting processes:
Assist the Finance team in its financial reporting processes, in technical areas such as leases, deferred income, and acquisition accounting.
Maintain or develop accounting disclosures for the purposes of statutory reporting.
Maintain documentation of MUBI’s accounting policies and controls.
Identify areas of improvement in existing accounting operations, developing solutions to new problems or making existing processes more efficient.
Play a key role in the annual group audit:
Coordinate the completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, which are used as the basis of the annual audit schedules, across the group.
Act as a key liaison between the MUBI Finance team and external audit teams and tax advisors, coordinating the submission of deliverables on external platforms.
What you will bring:
A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with 1-2 years of post-qualification experience in practice (Big 4 is a plus) or a multinational company.
Technical knowledge of accounting standards, with US GAAP experience being a plus.
Experience in preparation of annual or quarterly returns for corporate income tax, sales tax, and VAT, in at least one jurisdiction, and the ability to take the lead in developing the processes required for new regions.
Exposure to R&D tax credit claims.
Experience in developing balance sheet accounting schedules.
Experience in financial statement consolidations, in areas such as intercompany eliminations and acquisition goodwill upon consolidation.
A growth mindset where you can demonstrate an interest in both the development of your role and your own personal development. MUBI is a growing business and we want you to grow with it in a role suited to your skills and experience.

Prior experience in Media, Entertainment and/or Tech is a plus.
We want to make cinema accessible to everyone. We believe people from different backgrounds bring different ideas that foster innovation and engagement, allowing us to attract great people to develop the best experience for our users.
